Bronx resident Dahjuantay Douglas, 21, was arraigned over the weekend on an attempted murder charge, following a non-fatal shooting in downtown Mount Vernon, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr., announced.
According to the felony complaint, on Oct. 4, Douglas fired one shot in the air and a second into a moving car, striking a passenger at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 4 in the area of Gramatan and West Sidney avenues. The passenger in the vehicle was hit and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Scarpino said that Douglas’ victim stayed in the car and was driven to Yonkers, where he was taken by an ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
Police subsequently launched an investigation, which led to video surveillance of the alleged gunman in possession of the gun and shooting it at his victim. The investigation ultimately led police to Douglas, who was arrested near his home in the Bronx on Oct. 25. No motive for the shooting has been released.
Douglas was charged with attempted murder and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 1 to answer the charge.
